System and platform independence of FetView

by Dagmar Volfova in General

In the past weeks, we have been receiving many inquiries if FetView is running on different platforms.

As you probably heard, as of April 8, 2014 Microsoft stopped the support of Windows XP, including automatic updates that help protect your PC (and it is in many ways understandable, Windows XP is now 12 years old!).

Therefore, if you want to make sure that using your computer is safe and you currently have Windows XP, a good choice is to upgrade to a newer version of Windows or to install a different operating system.

But let’s get back to the inquiries. The specialists ask if FetView runs on the new Windows versions 7 and 8? The short and only answer is yes!

They have been asking because they learned that their current ultrasound diagnostics and documentation softwares are partly not able to run on certain operating systems, especially the newest ones. Therefore, if you are using other softwares for ultrasound examination documentation, you have a limited choice once you decide to purchase a new operating system. And we shouldn’t forget the fact that you will have to install the examination documentation software again.

However, in the case of FetView, there is nothing to worry about. Compared to those softwares, FetView is a cloud-based software, more specifically Software as a Service (SaaS). That means that you are accessing the software online via a web browser instead of actually installing it on your computer – therefore, FetView runs independently of your computer and no installation is needed. The only requirement for using FetView is an internet connection and a browser. That’s all. Easy, right?

It is indisputable that in the following years, other operating systems will not be supported anymore as they become obsolete. That is a “natural” part of progress and development of technology. Fortunately more and more companies develop softwares in the online environment, which makes them not only independent of the hardware and systems the end users use, but also because they have many other advantages such as the possibility to access them anytime anywhere without installation. But let’s talk about the advantages in a separate article we are preparing for you.
